I love hats in the summer! They let you enjoy the hot weather while staying protected from the sun and kicking up your outfit a notch. So many hats come in only one size, which is rarely petite-friendly. This straw hat caught my eye at H&M, hanging on the wall and almost out of reach. I wasn't expecting to buy it though, until I realized it came in different sizes!
H&M also had a large rack of summer-friendly simple jersey mini dresses (under their Divided label). The length is great for petites! It hits just above my knees and feels like it was made for us shorter ladies. Sizing goes down to 2 (I'm wearing a 4), and up to 16, in multiple colours and patterns.
I've been a fan of H&M's clothing for awhile, but I'm super excited about discovering their size small hats. This one is made of braided paper straw, with a 5cm (2 inch) brim width and a grosgrain ribbon accent. While the women's small is a perfect fit for me, they also carry it in medium and large. For an even smaller fit, I spotted similar styles in the kids section in various sizes.
The hat does feel a bit delicate - I tossed it around and let it land on the ground a few times without any problem, but you'd want to be careful about squishing it too much a suitcase. The style, fit, and reasonable price still make it a winner for me though!

On cooler summer evenings, add a black cardigan to play off the black ribbon on the hat. Try a solid coloured dress if you need more day-to-night flexibility - H&M carries several other dress styles with short lengths, frequently rotating the colors and patterns. The selection and sizing means it's easy to find something I like, making H&M one of my go-to stores for petite-friendly and reasonably priced summer outfits.
