I'm ever on the hunt for simple, versatile tops. Grabbed this one from Nordstrom online - the tiny white squares pattern (looks more like dice or ice cubes to me!) makes it more than just a black v-neck shirt while not overwhelming a petite body, and the 100% modal fabric is soft and comfy. Bonus - it's actually a petite size!
Got it in XS petite, however I wish they made it one size down, in XXS. The neckline and armholes fit me well, but there's a little too much fabric around me. That can make you look larger than you are from the side view, and be wary of leaning over as the excess material can reveal more than you bargained for.
Overall it's a great grab-and-go top, easily paired with dark jeans and boots, plus a black blazer if you want to spiff it up even more - but be wary of your silhouette.
