How to Find Snowshoes for Petites with Small Feet

I went snowshoeing for the first time over the Christmas holidays! As snowshoes aren’t too expensive, I wanted to buy my own pair rather than rent. I thought it’d be difficult to find a specialty item like snowshoes that fit me, particularly last minute. Fortunately, it was way easier than I expected! There are quite a few petite friendly options so you can hit the trail and feel comfortable too.

Brandy Melville One-Size-Fits-All Plaid Dress

One size fits all - that deceiving size that really doesn’t fit all! Being particularly short, I would never have guessed that one-size-fits-all could fit me.  I saw this plaid dress on a mannequin in the window display of Brandy Melville though, and just had to go in and try it.  I'd never been in Brandy Melville before, but the length of this dress looked...

Nic and Zoe Perfect Tank

It's a bit cheeky for a brand to name one of their items "perfect," but Nic + Zoe really nailed it with this tank!  A simple skinny jean with a pop-of-color top is one of my favorite looks, and this a great tank for achieving that style.  Similar shirts can be found at stores such as H&M and Topshop, but this one stands out for...

iPhone Xs and Xs Max - Size Review for Small Hands

October 20, 2018

The latest iPhone is on sale now! I checked it out in person at an Apple store, specifically to have a look at the sizing of the Xs and Xs Max. I wish they hadn’t called it Xs as it deceptively sounds like it would be extra small. As a petite with small hands, an extra small iPhone is something I’d be very interested in! (and an extra small iWatch too, please).

Here are the two Xs size options side by side. There’s not a huge difference at first glance. According to Apple’s site, both phones have a depth of 0.30 inches. The Xs is 5.65 inches in height and 2.79 inches in width, vs. the Xs Max with 6.20 inches in height and 3.05 inches in width. The diagonal display measurement is 5.8 inches on the Xs and 6.5 inches on the Max.

The large screen of the Max would undoubtedly be great for video watching. I can watch videos on a tv or laptop screen when I’m at home, though. When I’m out and about, what I primarily want is a small gadget that fits in my pocket or purse and lets me get ahold of other people. I find the Max unusable for this purpose. It’s wider than the last joint on my fingers and I struggle to even hold it in my small hands. Forget trying to text with one hand!

The Xs is also too large for my taste, but at least I can comfortably grip the phone. I can type reasonably well with it, vs not at all on the Max. You’d have to go all the way back to an iPhone SE to get something significantly smaller, which would mean missing out on features like face ID, wireless charging, speed, and camera quality.

If I was to buy a new iPhone right now, I’d go with the Xs model. I do wish it was a little smaller for my petite hands, but I think I could get used to it. The Xs Max is simply too big for me to consider!
